Pregnant & Postpartum Athleticism

5 months pregnant
Sure, you've been told "You can keep doing what you've been doing" or maybe even "You shouldn't lift over 10lbs" or some other generic, make-it-make-sense remark. But what should you actually be doing before, during, and after pregnancy?!
Here's The Thing About Pregnancy
"As a pregnant athlete, you are not fragile.
You're also not invincible."
How do you feel?
There is so much that affects your physical, mental, and emotional health during pregnancy, how you choose to navigate it all will be an important decision. Continuing to workout, unless contraindicated, can have an incredible impact on your pregnancy.
What symptoms are you experiencing?
Each pregnancy is different. Your first one might have been minimal symptoms, now in your second one you may have all the symptoms. There are adjustments you can make to not only alleviate symptoms but to actually FEEL GOOD!
Let's talk pelvic floor...
Your pelvic floor is the bottom of the girdle that is responsible for managing tension, pressure, absorbing force and more. Learn how to help yourself help you!

Returning Postpartum...
Education Based
Learning adaptations for the exercises you love while keeping pregnancy symptoms and experience in mind is key here. Whether you're dealing with fatigue, aches, pains, or all of the above and then some, we can find the training that works for you, safely and effectively.
At 6 weeks your provider says "yep, you're good" and all you can think is "GOOD FOR WHAT?" I'll tell you: you're good to take it slow, to move with intention, to reconnect to your body, to appreciate where you are in this season, and yes, you can absolutely make a plan for strength training. And no, you don't have to spend the rest of your life peeing when you jump. Let me show you how.
Having people guess what can do or having people automatically assume what you can't do is not beneficial. Train with intention now, so you can train with intensity later. I'm a certified Pregnant & Postpartum Athleticism Coach and as a mom, I've been there.
Pregnant To Postpartum

What does this look like?!
When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter in May 2023, I immediately felt nervous:
How do I continue to train?! What does this mean? What does this look like?
This was my first time and I remember feeling like she was a delicate bubble inside and I was going to pop her the first time I did squats. That led me to my passion of Pregnant & Postpartum Athleticism (for which I am certified as well!). As trainer, instructor, and educator Brianna Battles so beautifully puts: "You are not invincible, but you are not fragile either."
The "do what you've always done" or "don't lift anything over 10lbs" is pretty useless. But I was able to workout throughout my entire pregnancy because I learned how to adjust exercises and accommodate to symptoms as needed. And it's the same for postpartum. Postpartum is a time to get back to basics, to reconnect your mind and your body. What a beautifully (messy) time to take a breath and move with intention.
